Accessibility Statement
What we have built, what we target, and what we know is not perfect. Last updated July 1, 2026.
Our commitment
Craft Mill Works wants this website to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, navigate with a keyboard, need larger text, or prefer reduced motion.
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. In Ontario, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) sets requirements for organisations, and the Information and Communications Standards reference WCAG. [Confirm with your advisor which AODA obligations apply given your organisation’s size, and update this paragraph accordingly.]
What we have built in
These are implemented rather than aspirational:
- Semantic HTML with proper landmarks, and a logical heading order on every page
- A skip link that becomes visible when focused
- Full keyboard operation, including the navigation menus and the before-and-after comparison control, which is a native range input rather than a drag-only handle
- Visible focus indicators on every interactive element, on light and dark surfaces
- Colour contrast verified against WCAG AA for all text and interface boundaries, with the ratios asserted by automated tests so a design change cannot silently break them
- Real labels on every form field, never a placeholder used as a label
- Errors announced to assistive technology, described in words as well as colour, and summarised at the top of longer forms with links to each field
- The mobile menu implemented as a proper dialog, with focus trapped and restored
- Meaningful alternative text on informative images, and empty alt on decorative ones
- Reduced-motion support that removes the site’s limited animation entirely
- Touch targets of at least 44 by 44 CSS pixels
- Pinch-zoom left enabled — we do not cap maximum scale
- Text that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to a 320 pixel viewport
Known limitations
We would rather list these than claim full conformance we have not independently verified.
- No independent audit yet. This site has been built to WCAG 2.2 AA and tested with automated tools and manual keyboard checks, but it has not been audited by a third-party accessibility specialist or tested with every combination of screen reader and browser. [Commission an audit and update this section.]
- Third-party components. The spam-protection widget on our forms is provided by Cloudflare and we do not control its markup. If it presents a barrier, contact us and we will take your enquiry by phone or email instead.
- Embedded maps. If a map embed is enabled, it is provided by Google and its accessibility is outside our control. All the same information is available as text on our service-area pages, which is why the text version is the default.
- Uploaded and linked documents. Any PDF we link to may not meet the same standard as the site itself. Ask us and we will provide the content in another format.
Alternative ways to reach us
If any part of this site prevents you from getting in touch, you do not have to use it. Every enquiry we receive by phone or email is treated exactly the same as one from a form.
We can also carry out consultations by video call, and we are glad to accommodate specific requirements — tell us what would work best for you.
Tell us about a barrier
If you encounter something on this site that does not work for you, we want to hear about it. It is the most reliable way we find problems that automated testing misses.
Please tell us, if you can:
- The page address
- What you were trying to do
- What happened instead
- Your browser and any assistive technology you use
We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within two business days and to give you a plan for fixing the issue.
Accessibility in the work itself
Separately from this website: we design and supply cabinetry with accessibility in mind where that is what a household needs — roll-under vanity clearances, shallower depths so a basin is reachable, lever-friendly hardware, pull-down rails for high storage, and work surfaces at heights that suit the person using them. Tell us what you need at the first conversation and it costs nothing to design in.
